Entraspan develops database independent software primarily with Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL. Extensive database experience with Oracle, Sybase, and other relational databases. Entraspan has used SQL Server since 2000, and is preferred for it's ease of use, foreign key support, and advanced query optimization. SQL Server Express provides a free runtime. MySQL is ideal for smaller databases or when clustering multiple systems together for linear scalability at a much lower cost than SQL Server. Developed several MySQL based applictions. Developed and ported applications over on Unix workstations and developed a large Oracle based data warehouse application. Experienced with proprietary vendor libraries. Written several applications using the JDBC and ODBC application programmer interfaces in Java, C, and C++. Experience with creation of proprietary JDBC/ODBC libraries. Worked with several other database products including HSQL, Pervasive, and others. Maintaining database independence makes it easy to swap vendors when appropriate. |
